Moderate summer temperatures and plentiful rainfall positively promoted the growth conditions of the stocks.
The plants were not exposed to heat stress and were therefore able to develop well.
The crop will start about one week later across the whole area.

Weather conditions in July have been ideal for the growth of hops - warm and plenty of rain. The hops at Lake Constance look very good and are healthy.
Harvest will start one week later this year. A good crop with high alpha acids can be expected.

The high summer temperatures of the last two weeks of June have positively influenced length growth, so that most of the hops have now reached skeleton height.
Diseases such as peronospora and powdery milde ware under control.
Thes evere thunderstorms of the past few days delivered high rainfall, but the hops were spared hail damage.

Warm and humid weather throughout the month resulted in very good growth. The lag of beginning of June has been completely offset.
The aphid and spider mite infestation is low. Fungal dieseases are under control.
On the afternoon of June 29 a hailstorm hit the eastern part of the growing area. Some hop fields have been damaged seriously.
All conditions for continued good development of the hops are given.

May was also predominantly characterized by low temperatures. Due to the high rainfall, the water supply of the plants is very good.
The training of the plants is now completed.
Higher temperatures are now required to stimulate length growth of the plants. The necessary cultivation work in the hop fields can be carried out without much time pressure and after the ground has been dried out.

May was, like April, significant cooler than long term average At the same time recipitation was very high. The water reserves in the ground were thus optimally replenished for the next weeks.
The growth level of the most important aroma varieties Tettnang and Hallertau Mittelfrüh is about one week later, of the other varieties about two weeks later than average. With the announced warm temperatures a strong growth can be expected.
Despite the weeks of humid weather, the pressure with downy mildew has been normal so far. The occurence of aphids and spider mite is minimal due to the weather conditions.

The month of April was characterized by unusually low temperatures and occasional night frosts. This has delayed the growth of hops by a few weeks. In the first week of May most of the
farms begin with the training of the hop shoots. The entry to of the seasonal workers to Germany, that are now needed, took place in time and without bigger problems. So the spring work in the hop fields can be done in time. The supply of the farms with operating material is also safe.

Last winter brought sufficient precipitation, so that also the deeper layers of soil were well saturated. Lately the weather was dry and cool. The state of growth is about seven to ten days later than average. The entry to of the seasonal workers to Germany, that are now needed, took place in time and without bigger problems. So the spring work in the hop fields can be done in time. The supply of the farms with operating material is also safe.

In June, much-needed rainfalls came and all regions were supplied with an average of 120 ltr./qm water. Overall, however, it was clearly too cool and this is evident in some varieties with a growth deficit of about 1.5 meters. Since 22nd June, however, temperatures have been continuously higher, so that the stocks can easily compensate their growth deficit.
Regarding plant protection, selective measures against downy mildew and powdery mildew have already been implemented. From the end of May to the beginning of June, some stocks were populated by hop aphids and specific treatments were performed promptly. The cool weather at the beginning of the month restricted the distribution of the spider mite.

Due to ideal conditions with abundant rainfall, the growth was very good. The hops in the growing area are 7 to 10 days ahead in development. Diseases and pests are under control.
The conditions for a further good development of hops are given.

Spring began with very warm and dry weather, so all work could be done under normal circumstances. The feared problem of a lack of seasonal workers, resulting from travel restrictions, could be compensated by the engagement of student assistants and neighbourhood help. So the hops were trained from the end of April to the beginning of May.
The growth level of the hops is in part slightly delayed. There is some infestation with downy mildew, powdery mildew and aphids or spider mites. Appropriate individual measures have already been taken to counteract this.

The temperatures in spring, especially in April, were well above the long-term average. The warm and humid weather led to a strong growth. The hops in the growing area are in average about one week ahead in growth. In the first fields will reach the trellis during the next days. Diseases and pests appear in a normal extent and are under control.

There were several days of great heat and dryness, which stressed the plants very much. Last days in July brought recently much needed rainfall and cooler temperatures. Although the rainfall regionally turned out very differently. The early ripening varieties are in full flowering modus, late maturing varieties are getting to this point. The pest pressure is still under control. In some regions powdery mildew is more noticeable, as well as the red spider mite. In order to resolve this, plant protection measures were necessary.

Due to moderate temperatures growth conditions of hops were good until July 19. A heat wave and in the meantime dry soils in the period July 20th to 26th stressed the plants. In the last days of July weather cooled down and heavy rainfalls lead to good conditions for ripening of cones. A good harvest can be expected.

Until the last week of June, the weather with sufficient rainfall ensured good growing conditions. The last days of the month were too hot. The growth status of the plants is very heterogeneous depending on the variety. Due to the infestation situation, hops need to be treated against aphids and spider mite. Regionally there is a strong infestation with powdery mildew. The soil preparation is completed and the catch crop is sown.

In the first three weeks of June temperatures were very warm and good for growth of hops. This period was followed by a heatwave in the last week with daily maximum temperatures between 30 and 35°C. Precipiation was below average, but water supply of the plants is still okay. Total state of hops is good, but for the next days lower temperatures and rain are needed. Pests and diseases are under control.

After a very warm and dry spring, the hops are at a normal growing stage, healthy and growing well. The now wet and cold weather will inhibit the growth of the hop plants. Training of the hop shoots started very early due to the warm weather and was completed at the end of April respectively beginning of May. Phytosanitary measures to control the peronospora primary infection have already been carried out and will be completed after training is done.

In the first half of July, there were perfect growing conditions for the hops. The hops are developing cones now. The incurred heat, combined with drought, stresses the plants now very much. The fields of late ripening varieties look very good so far, but like all other varieties, they urgently need rainfall and more moderate temperatures. The early varieties are mostly below average. So the harvest will start in 2-3 weeks for these varieties. Pest control measures against the red spider mite and aphids are still ongoing. In Herkules fields, powdery mildew can be found. Damage by wilt is increasing now.

July was too warm and too dry. The increasing water deficit in combination with very hot temperatures will affect crop quantity and alpha acids of the early aroma varieties. Late-ripening varieties (especially Herkules) still look good, but urgently need enough rain. In many cases control of aphids and spider mites is difficult. Fungal diseases are not relevant. Harvest will start some days earlier.

Development of hops is still about one week ahead. The plant stand is very inhomogeneous within the growing area, but in total average. The blossom began in all varieties. Rainfall from June 28th and 29th with about 25 mm was very important, as the water deficit is still enormous. Farmers actually spray against aphids and spider mite. Infestation with powdery mildew is higher than last year.

In the first half of June we had some strong thunderstorm precipitations, but since June 13th nearly no rainfall. So water supply of hops is still tight. Development of the hop plants is still ahead to average. Early aroma varieties like Hallertauer Mittelfrueh or Saphir are partially already developing cones. Plant stand of our main variety Tettnang is average. Late-ripening varieties look good. Hop fields in the area are in good health. Pest and disease pressure is low

After about 7 weeks of drought combined with exceptionally warm temperatures in April and early May, the hop populations are well ahead in their development. Rainfall of 40-100 l / m² now helped the hops to perfect growing conditions. However, this has the consequence that early ripening varieties already partially change to flower mode. Due to the long drought, increasingly deficiency symptoms of trace nutrients occur in the soil. Also due to the drought is the already partly massive infestation of the red spider mite. In addition, reports are increasing about the visible infestation of powdery mildew. On the 31st of May, a hailstorm in the northwestern part of the Hallertau caused severe damage in some hop fields.
