In 2019, BayWa AG took part in the climate rating of the international non-profit organisation CDP for the first time.

CDP analyses and evaluates the commitment of numerous companies, cities and countries in the area of climate and environmental protection every year. After all, more and more investors want to invest in companies which know, measure and manage their risks and opportunities in dealing with climate change. CDP currently represents 525 investors with assets of 96 trillion US dollars who demand information from companies on how they are dealing with climate change. In 2019, CDP assessed over 8,400 companies against a comprehensive set of criteria for their strategic approach to the challenges of climate change and their climate management.

In the first year of participation, BayWa achieved a rating of C, which is average in a sector comparison. BayWa is thus one of the 30 percent of companies from the trading, wholesale, distribution, letting and leasing sector which have achieved the so-called Awareness Level. This level is awarded to companies with knowledge of climate issues and the company-specific impact on the climate. The assessment is based on detailed information on greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption and risk management.
