Sustainable activities in the buildings segment
Through the Building Materials segment, the company covers the demand for building materials and solutions for energy-efficient building and renovation.
For the labelling of low-emission building materials, in 2018 a separate orientation guide has been put into circulation, which should help the consumer in the selection and combination of suitable products. Only products that pass the internal control process, receive the BayWa BauGesund-Label. Within that field important independent product certifications, as well as the test reports will be evaluated and the seal will then be replaced by a BayWa expert. The long-term goal is to raise the share of low-emission and therefore healthy building materials to 5 percent by 2020.
Efficiency house plus settlement in Hügelshart, Bavaria
13 house units, nine single-family houses and four semi-detached houses each produce more energy than their inhabitants consume on an annual average.
The settlement is considered to be Germany's first Efficiency House Plus settlement to be built in accordance with the criteria of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Construction and Nuclear Safety (BMU). Over the year as a whole, this results in an energy self-sufficiency of approx. 70 percent. The construction project of asset Grundbesitz- und Vermögensverwaltung GmbH in cooperation with BayWa AG exemplifies the maturity of energy-efficient, healthy and at the same time economical construction methods.
The brick houses of the Effizienzhaus Plus housing estate already meet the requirements necessary to achieve the building standards of 2020. In concrete terms, this means low energy consumption on the one hand and high solar coverage via the company's own energy generation coupled with intelligent energy management on the other.
