On the path to expansion worldwide
BayWa has been continually expanding its international activities for years. In agricultural trading, the Group has a global sourcing and trade network with its companies Cefetra B.V. (The Netherlands) and BayWa Agrarhandel GmbH (Germany). Cefetra operates warehouse and port sites across Western and Eastern Europe and can also draw on its own sourcing network in Poland. Thanks to the BayWa Agrarhandel GmbH, we also have access to Germany’s key waterways, such as the Mittellandkanal, and to deep-sea ports on the Baltic coast. This strengthens our presence in Eastern Europe in particular. In Austria, we operate on an almost nationwide basis through our subsidiaries and also maintain subsidiaries in other Eastern European countries. With the establishment of companies and representative offices in a number of European countries and in South America, we are tapping into additional important procurement and sales markets with regard to global agricultural trade.
In the fruit business, BayWa’s subsidiary T&G Global Limited has helped it not only tap into the New Zealand market, but also gain access to the North American continent, Australia and Asia through its network of trade partnerships. The New Zealand shareholding also opens doors to additional sales opportunities for German fruit in international high-growth markets.
The international focus also plays an important role in the renewable energies market. Since 2009 we have continued to expand our international activities in this sector by our wholly-owned subsidiary BayWa r.e. As a project developer and trader of plants for wind energy, solar energy, bioenergy and geothermal energy it operates in many European countries and in the US.
